After serving patients and the public for well over a year, Trinity Health has announced it will close its drive-through COVID-19 test site effective May 27.
Vice President Randy Schwan says demand for the well-known PCR swab test has declined in recent weeks. Volumes are now at a level where testing for people who are either symptomatic or asymptomatic for COVID-19 can be conducted at First District Health Unit. Testing days and hours can be found on First District’s website, www.fdhu.org.
“Trinity Health launched the state’s first drive-through test site in March 2020,” Schwan said. “The employees who staffed the site and those who kept it going have done an amazing job meeting the challenges of COVID-19. With our vaccination program ramping up and given First District’s excellent testing program, it seemed like the right time to make the transition.”
Trinity Health offers vaccination appointments five days a week to everyone age 12 and older. “COVID-19 vaccines are our most effective means for putting this pandemic behind us. We encourage everyone to get vaccinated,” Schwan added.
Vaccination appointments are available by calling 701-857-2515 for adults and 701-857-5413 for children age 12 and older. People who live outside of the Minot area may contact their local Trinity Health clinic to schedule an appointment.
Trinity Health continues to offer rapid antigen testing for asymptomatic individuals who need to purchase the test for travel or other purposes. Trinity also offers outpatient monoclonal antibody therapy for adults and pediatric patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who qualify for treatment.
