We provide consultative, diagnostic, and therapeutic services for patients with lung and breathing problems, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and lung cancer. Other medical services include spirometry, complete pulmonary functions, cardiopulmonary stress tests, x-rays, CT scans, and methacholine challenge.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) – A group of lung diseases in which airflow from the lungs is limited, making it hard to breathe. Examples include emphysema and chronic bronchitis. COPD, although preventable and treatable, affects millions of Americans and is the third leading cause of death in the U.S.
Asthma – A chronic lung disease characterized by inflammation and narrowing of the airways in reaction to certain inhaled substances or triggers. Asthma causes recurring periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. It affects people of all ages, but most often starts during childhood.
Lung Cancer – Usually attributable to smoking, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths. However, Trinity Health offers low-dose CT screening for lung cancer, which helps identify patients with early stage, treatable lung cancer and thus helps reduce the number of deaths.
