Trinity Health’s team of asthma specialists will host a free public seminar, “Asthma Care Today: A Pathway to Manage Asthma,” Monday, May 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Health Center – Riverside’s Education Center, 1900 8th Avenue SE.
Asthma sufferers and families affected by pediatric or adult asthma are invited to attend the event, which is designed to help people with asthma better manage their condition and achieve improved quality of life.
“Asthma is a disease that affects the lungs, with repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing,” said Heidi Bender, FNP-C, a nurse practitioner in Trinity’s Pulmonology/Critical Care Clinic. “Through medication and proper management of the condition, we can help asthma patients lead a normal life, and that’s our goal.”
Educational booths will be displayed from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by the seminar presentation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Topics include “Asthma—the Basics,” “Pathway to Manage Asthma,” “Assessing Asthma Control,” “Know Your Medications,” “New Asthma Treatment: Biologic Therapy,” “Spacer Use,” and “Avoiding Triggers.”
