(MINOT, ND)—Trinity Behavioral Health Services is accepting registrations for the Spring Session of its Nurturing Parenting Education series. The weekly classes begin January 8 and continue through April 23.
Coordinator Karissa Zeltinger, LSW, a licensed social worker, says the free sessions provide guidance and support for families as they work to make life more harmonious. The classes are designed for all families and caregivers with children up to 12 years of age.
“The class usually has a mix of voluntary and involuntary families,” Zeltinger said. “The skills we cover include expressing feelings and communicating needs, learning empathy, using alternative discipline, being responsible for one’s behavior, promoting family fun, establishing routines, handling stress and anger, promoting self-esteem, and giving and receiving healthy touch.”
Classes will be held at Health Center-Riverside, located at 1900 8th Avenue SE. Each class is preceded by a free supper from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Classes start at 6 p.m. and conclude with a family activity at 8 p.m.
