This facility was made possible through the generosity of a North Dakota family whose wife and mother lost a four-year battle to cancer. Families stay in this home away-from-home 4-6 weeks at a time. The Cottage offers a welcoming and caring place for out-of-town cancer patients and their caregivers to stay while receiving treatment at the CancerCare Center. Additionally, if there are no CancerCare patients using the cottage, Trinity Home Health and Hospice uses the facility for patients during their final days.
During 2022, 12 families from different cities in North Dakota utilized the CancerCare Cottage.
Two of the families that used the facility stated:
“I just want to thank the family for making this cottage available for all cancer patients. You have created a beautiful place here, a home away from home. I have breast cancer and I live 117 miles away from here. That’s a lot of driving every day. I’ve been staying here for a couple of weeks now and have a couple more weeks to go. This is a comfortable and great place to stay. I appreciate everything the family and Trinity doctors/nurses and social workers have done for me. Thank you all for everything. God bless." —DP
“The place is very clean and upkept. I am so thankful for you all. I live in Stanley and with the winter months ahead, I was worried if I could make my appointments or not. That is when I was told about this place. I stayed while I was doing my Chemo treatments. I was able to really rest after without any disturbance at all. Thank you so much!” —J & TD
