Family medicine is a form of primary care that provides continuing comprehensive healthcare for people of all ages – that includes children and newborns, too.
“Usually, I’ve seen them as young as one week for a post-delivery check,” said Dustin Tolman, MD, a member of the Family Medicine department at Trinity Community Clinic–Western Dakota, in Williston. “From there on, we’ll follow them through well child checks and immunizations.”
There isn’t much that Dr. Tolman, nor any of his colleagues in Family Medicine department at Trinity Community Clinic–Western Dakota, would turn away. “I do circumcisions if they don’t do them in the hospital, breathing treatments, immunizations, flu shots, everything … Really, there’s no limit,” Dr. Tolman said. “Obviously, if they have a pretty complex medical history, we’ll see those patients and if we need to get them set up, we can get them referred.”
