MINOT, ND) – Charles O. Wood, a board certified neurosurgeon with more than 30 years of experience providing surgical care to people with brain and spinal disorders, has joined Trinity Health.
A 1979 graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Dr. Wood completed his Neurosurgery residency and a fellowship in Clinical Neurotrauma at the Medical College of Virginia. He founded North Georgia Neurosurgical Associates in 1985 and practiced there for two decades. In 2008 was appointed Director of Neurosciences at Greenview Regional Hospital in Kentucky, where he co-developed the hospital’s Neuroscience Center and co-directed the Stroke Center. More recently he practiced in Grand Forks and Glasgow, Kentucky.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wood has incorporated innovative approaches to neurological surgery into his practice, including minimally invasive and image-guided brain and spine surgery. ‘The advantages of minimally-invasive or ëkeyhole’ surgery are obvious,’ Dr. Wood said. ‘The incisions are smaller and less disruptive to surrounding tissue. The result is less post-op pain so patients can get back on their feet and return to normal life more quickly.’
Dr. Wood provides care for all aspects of the body’s nervous system, including the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. His clinical interests include brain and spinal trauma, minimally invasive spine surgery, artificial disc replacement, image-guided brain and spinal surgery, intracranial and intraspinal tumors, reconstruction of the degenerative spine, extra- and intracranial vascular disease, and stroke management.
Dr. Wood is in Health Center ñ East, Suite 401, located at 20 Burdick Expressway West, Minot, ND.
