The American Heart Association (AHA) has recognized Community Ambulance of Minot for excellence in caring for patients with heart attack.

The ambulance service received the Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Plus Award for employing practices that are highly effective in identifying STEMI heart attacks quickly and coordinating with hospital emergency departments to promote rapid treatment.

Prehospital personnel are the first providers of care to patients suffering from cardiac emergencies. Their role in the EMS system is crucial and often sets the course for a patient’s outcome.  Mission: Lifeline seeks to save lives by closing the gaps that separate patients from timely access to appropriate treatment, according to AHA.

Community Ambulance earned the silver award by meeting specific criteria over a designated period of time, including early 12-lead ECG acquisition, early recognition of STEMI, early notification to the emergency department, and rapid arrival at a STEMI referring hospital.
