Physician Specialists
Trinity’s sports medicine providers are fellowship trained in sports medicine, offering surgical and nonsurgical treatments for sports-related injuries. Dawn Mattern, MD, a specialist board certified in Family Practice/Sports Medicine, serves as medical director for the Trinity Sports Medicine program.
Sports Medicine Center
Founded in 1984, Trinity Sports Medicine provides comprehensive services by certified athletic trainers for the entire northwest region of North Dakota.

School and Community Team Coverage
Sports Medicine personnel work with hundreds of athletes daily, traveling to colleges, high schools, and middle schools throughout the northwest region for game coverage and general sports medicine care. Trinity has also provided services for area semi-professional and professional teams.
Injury Prevention and Education
Through seminars and group presentations, Trinity Sports Medicine offers education to athletes, coaches, and parents on a multitude of topics, including concussion recognition and management, heat illness prevention, basic injury treatment, and management of special injuries such as spine and shoulder.
FASTER Athletics Program
An acronym for Flexibility, Agility, and Strength Together Equals Ready, FASTER is an injury prevention and performance enhancement program designed to promote overall strength, agility, flexibility, and core strength.
Athletic Training Education
Conducted in partnership with Minot State University, Trinity Sports Medicine helps educate future athletic trainers through MSU’s Athletic Training Education Program.
Emergency and Mass Casualty Preparedness
Trinity Sports Medicine works with schools and municipal agencies to develop plans for responding to mass casualty situations and other emergencies at sporting events.
