(MINOT, ND) – Trinity Sports Medicine will offer a free strength training clinic for overhead athletes Monday, November 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Hotel. The clinic is for coaches, strength and conditioning specialists, parents, and athletes.
Guest presenter will be Eric Munson, ATC, CSCS, a Kenmare native and NDSU graduate, who currently serves as assistant athletic trainer for the Los Angeles Angels. Munson will discuss injury prevention for the overhead athlete and give recommendations to participants on strength training techniques specific to those sports.
‘This is an excellent opportunity for our area coaches and athletes,’ said Robyn Gust, Trinity Health Sports Medicine Manager. ‘We are very excited for Eric to return to North Dakota to share his specialized knowledge he has gotten working with the Angels organization since 2005. Our goal is to help prevent the common injuries we see in baseball and softball type athletes.’
Overhead athletes are athletes who participate in sports in which the upper limbs are used in an overhead position such as in baseball, softball, volleyball, and swimming.
Space at the clinic will be limited. Persons need to register at trinityhealth.org/sportsmedicine by November 17. For information, call (701) 857-3486. The clinic is presented thanks to a grant from the Trinity Health Foundation.
