The Surrey Volunteer Fire Department accepted a $3,456 check from Trinity Health Foundation on Tuesday for the purchase of two automated external defibrillators. The AEDs will be located in the fire truck and a secondary vehicle, offering immediate assistance for victims experiencing a cardiac emergency. Surrey Fire Chief Jordan Mauro says the new units will support ongoing efforts to improve the department’s medical response capability. Three members recently completed emergency medical response training, and all 24 members of the volunteer force are certified in basic first aid.
