“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the practical and useful provisions that Trinity Health made available during my journey with breast cancer. The insightfulness of these provisions speaks well of the planning and thought that has gone into the project. My husband and I were especially thankful for the Cancer Cottage. It was so private, clean and convenient for our use for six weeks while I did my radiation treatments. It took the worry of driving 150 miles round trip 5 days a week through the winter months off our list! The gas vouchers were very helpful as we still had to go home at least once a week to check on our home and my 96-year old aunt for whom I am the primary caretaker. We found her temporary housing with my sister until we returned. The social worker who helped us was very, very kind and thoughtful. She represented your organization in an exceptional way. So many things were offered before I knew I would even need them. The first wig for me after Chemotherapy was a hit with me and my family. I have received many compliments on it and found it to be a confidence builder!
The cancer exercise rehab at the YMCA was such a surprise to me and one I wasn't too sure I needed to do. However, I am so glad that I was able to take advantage of that provision as it built my strength and stamina up to almost as good as before my cancer diagnosis. The travel voucher for our trip to Rochester for surgery as well as my first lymphedema sleeve were two more much appreciated gifts. Thank you to all who are so kind and giving to this organization. You have certainly made a difference!” - Pam Mehlhoff
