Employees throughout Trinity Health’s care system will receive a one-time pay boost this month in recognition of their work during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. President and CEO John M. Kutch announced the payment in a letter to employees, calling it a “making more possible dividend”.

Under the plan, full-time workers will receive a payment of $500 plus an extra day off; part-time employees will each receive $250. He described the payment as a way to honor Trinity’s workforce for their outstanding performance and dedication in the continuing battle against COVID-19.

“I am happy and proud to recognize all of you who have stepped up to answer the call on behalf of our patients and residents,” Kutch said. “Thank you for your courage, resilience, and commitment as we continue to confront this crisis. As an engaged healthcare organization, we want to continue to support, motivate and inspire our workforce, especially since the pandemic will likely be around for some time.”

Dr. Jeffrey Sather, Chief of Staff, says “This pandemic has presented all our staff an unprecedented dynamic situation with changing policy, job duties, and responsibilities. The ability to adapt, keep current, communicate, and work as a team for the benefit of our region has been admirable. I am so proud of the talent we have at Trinity Health.”

Karen Zimmerman, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care, says it was important to recognize all staff members in addition to those directly involved in patient care. “There are so many people who keep the hospital and clinics running – staff who clean the rooms, deliver supplies, fix equipment, and so forth. We are a team, and I’m glad the whole team is getting the recognition,” she said.

Trinity Homes Administrator Rhonda Walter also noted that COVID-19 has placed additional responsibilities on staff. “No one knows more than those who have put themselves in harm’s way to meet the physical and emotional needs of our patients and residents, who were without the support of family members because of visitation restrictions.”

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in early March, Trinity Health has performed more than 7,092 tests and admitted 51 patients, according to Kutch. He says the pandemic has brought daily challenges to ensure proper staffing and adequate supplies of personal protective equipment; without the help of staff members, Trinity Health would have been hard pressed to obtain and manage supplies adequately.

Employees who will receive the one-time pay increase are those employed at Trinity Hospital, Trinity Hospital – St. Joseph’s, CancerCare Center, Health Center – Medical Arts, Health Center – East, Health Center – West, Health Center – Town & Country, Support Services – Town & Country, Health Center – Riverside, Health Center – Plaza 16, Health Center – Third Street, Health Center – Fifth Avenue, Trinity Health South Ridge, Trinity Health East Ridge, 120 Building, Materials Management, Printing Services, and Exercise Physiology – YMCA, KeyCare Pharmacy, KeyCare Medical, and B&B Northwest Pharmacy, all in Minot; and Lenoir Dialysis Center – Belcourt, Trinity Regional Eyecare – Devils Lake, Community Clinic – Garrison, Kenmare Community Hospital, Community Clinic – Mohall, Community Clinic – New Town, Community Clinic – Velva, and Trinity Health – Western Dakota, Williston.
