Fourteen nursing students were awarded nearly $50,000 in scholarships as Trinity Health Foundation hosted its 4th Annual Nursing Scholarship Banquet January 14 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center.
The event brought students and supporters together to recognize recipients and honor contributors to the Foundation’s Nursing Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Foundation Chairman Jeffrey Verhey, MD, congratulated students and thanked donors who responded to the Foundation’s goal to help ease a nationwide nursing shortage. “We recognize the vital role that nurses play in providing medical care and are dedicated to addressing this issue by supporting the education of nursing students.”
Those who received awards are: April Edwards, Jordan Eul, Shaley McNally, Jenae Orluck, Jenna Routledge, Kali Swenson, and Kate Zimmerman, all Minot State University; Linnzi Aberle, Mandy Evers, Tessa Pierson, and Alysia Rufsvold, all pursuing nursing degrees through Dakota College at Bottineau; Jenna Leier and Taylor Mattson, both University of North Dakota; and Annika Arnold, North Dakota State University.
Foundation Director Al Evon noted that some 43 nursing students have received $145,000 in scholarships since the Nursing Scholarship Endowment Fund was revised and expanded four years ago.
