Radiology & Imaging
Diagnostic RadiologyTrinity Health offers complete diagnostic x-ray services utilizing state-of -the-art equipment performed by qualified and experienced technologists. Trinity Health offers digital imaging at all 5 of our Minot clinical sites, as well as at Trinity Hospital.
UltrasoundUltrasound imaging is a relatively painless procedure that uses high frequency soundwaves to produce images of organs and structures inside your body. It is commonly used to monitor the growth and development of an unborn child, detect abnormalities of the heart function and physiology, and also to detect abnormal widening or narrowing of the blood vessels. Trinity Health's ultrasound department serves a diverse patient population at all three of its imaging sites: 3 systems at Health Center-Medical Arts, 2 systems at the Advanced Imaging Center at Town & Country, and 5 systems at Trinity Hospital.
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of the organs and structures inside the body. For an MRI test the body is placed inside a special machine that contains a strong magnet. Trinity Health has 2 MRI machines, one located at Trinity Hospital, and another at the Advanced Imaging Center located at Town & Country. Trinity Radiology is proud to operate the only 3T MRI machine in the state of North Dakota.
A CT scan stands for a computed tomography scan. A CT scanner emits a series of narrow beams through the human body as it moves through an arc. The CT scanner processes the images it generates into a 3-D cross-sectional picture of the inside of the body. Trinity Health operates 3 CT scanners each day, 2 at Trinity Hospital and one at the Advanced Imaging Center located at Town & Country.
Positron emission tomography (PET) and computerized tomography (CT) are both state-of-the art imaging tools combined together in one exam to diagnose, stage, or restage malignant disease. Trinity Health has one PET/CT scanner located at the Advanced Imaging Center located at Town & Country.
Trinity Health is proud to have been the first breast imaging center in North Dakota to
offer digital mammography. Trinity Health offers a full range of mammography services
including screening and diagnostic exams, as well as stereotactic-guided vacuum-
assisted breast biopsies. Research has shown that digital mammography does a
better job of detecting tumors in younger women and women with dense tissue
breasts. It's the most advanced technology available for screening mammograms-
the first defense against breast cancer. Trinity Health has two digital mammography
machines, both located in the Breast Imaging Center at Health Center-Medical Arts.
Trinity Health will soon be adding 3D mammography (breast tomosynthesis) as an additional screening tool, the newest arsenal in breast cancer detection!
Special Radiology ProceduresSpecial Procedures or Interventional Radiology is a growing subspecialty in which both vascular and nonvascular diseases are diagnosed and treated. It is a minimally invasive technique that utilizes small catheters guided by radiologic imaging such as fluoroscopy, CT, or ultrasound. Special Procedures offers an alternative to conventional and surgical treatment. These procedures pose less risk to patients and typically decrease hospitalization time.
Cardiac Cath Lab
Cardiac Catheterization is the insertion of a catheter into a vessel of the heart. The catheter is then injected with an iodine-based contrast in order to visualize the coronary vessels under fluoroscopy. Once the catheter is in place it can also be used to perform a number of interventional procedures.
