Karen Aarestad MD

A member of our primary care team, Karen Aarestad, MD, is board certified in Internal Medicine, a medical field that focuses on general care for men and women 18 years and older, including routine physicals and diagnosis/treatment of the full range of health problems - both acute and chronic. Originally from Fargo, she attended West Fargo schools and received her undergraduate degree from North Dakota State University. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, and completed her Internal Medicine residency through the UND medical school's southeast campus in Fargo. Prior to joining Trinity Health she was an active member of a large multispecialty clinic in Riverside, CA, for 24 years. Dr. Aarestad is pleased to be back in her home state and to be part of a community that honors its Scandinavian heritage, which she shares.


 Internal Medicine

Internal medicine deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. An internist cares for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in teaching or research. They are especially skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes.
